Autohome has been manufacturing roof top tents since 1958. Having owned mine for 3 years, I believe I can provide a well-informed review of this roof top tent. My Maggiolina has proven to be excellent during numerous Overlanding journeys in various weather conditions and challenging trail terrains.

This Roof Top Tent Is Raised Using A Removable Crank Arm Seen Here In The Review
Sliding the crank arm into the opening, meshing with the worm drive mechanism and cranking raises the tent. It is extremely reliable system that allows tightening of the canvas as it stretches. Cranking may take a little longer than closing a tent that uses struts but I mean a little. Remembering to stow the crank arm is critical. I bought a extra but left in in when I drove off. Now I'm down to just one.
The Maggiolina Mounts On A Vehicle Roof Rack Very Nicely
We purchased this tent before we got our Xventure XV-3 Off-Road Trailer. I had outfitted the Jeep with a Rhino 3 Bar Backbone Rack. It worked as a awesome mount for the tent. I did replace the Autohome ladder with this heavy duty telescoping model. It's strapped to the trailers rack to avoid shifting position when climbing in and out.
With A Wind Resistance Rating Of 50 MPH The Maggiolina Handles Challenging Mountain Environments
My regular tent collapsed at an elevation of 10,000 feet in the Manzano Mountains of New Mexico. The wind in Alabama Hills was relentless, often reaching high intensity. Despite the Maggiolina being shaken by the wind we slept well knowing it was not going to come down around us.

Can The Maggiolina Keep You Dry In A Cold Wet Driving Rain In The Mojave Desert?
We finished our trip on the Mojave Road and spent the night at Afton Canyon. It started pouring rain with wind. No problem for the Maggiolina. We were warm, dry and snug as 2 bugs in a rug. Very water resistant tent.

What About The Maggiolina In The Cold? There Is A Accessory That Can Help When You Climb Out Of That Warm Sleeping Bag.

The standard Maggiolina tent features a lightweight yet sturdy canvas material. Upper Shell is insulated, bottom has 4" memory foam mattress. The Winter Hood adds a layer that increase warmth. Also keeps sun and extreme weather away from canvas. The Maggiolina could be comfortable if you had to hunker down when its nasty outside.

Heavy Duty Zippers That Work
The wind is blowing, its raining, you need to get inside and close up your tent. You do not want trouble with a zipper. The Maggiolina has good zippers.

3 Of These Clips Hold The Tent Closed
Look at the hardware on your tent. Is it high quality? After you have cranked this tent all the way down, the final step is squeezing it shut. That can require some force. These clips are dependable.

Autohome Tents Are Very Strong
2 of these heavy gauge tracks run the length of the tent. They serve 2 purposes.
Stiffen bottom of tent.
Channel for attaching mounting hardware.

Bungies Help In Closing Up The Tent
When closing the tent, attach bungy cords to 4 points. As you close it the sides will pull in, eliminating the need to stuff the canvas.

Hard To Forget Your Sleeping Gear When It Is Stored Inside The Tent
Autohome gives you room for gear when closed.
You place the door on top of elastic bungies. Easy 1 person closing of the tent. Crank it down, bungies pull sides in and keep door from falling out.
